The 2016 New York International Auto Show is now taking place in Manhattan at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The event started last Wednesday and since then there have myriad exciting announcements throughout the industry. Here at Pensacola Honda, one of the stories that has us most excited is Honda's introduction of its update Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan.
On the outside, the Fuel Cell Clarity delivers an aggressive yet refined aesthetic. It features a sporty front end, low and wide aerodynamic stance, and sleek character lines.
Replacing the outgoing FCX Clarity, the new Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan features a fuel cell stack that is 60 percent more power dense and 33 percent more compact that its predecessor. With a size comparable to a V-6 engine, the stack fits entirely under the hood, allowing for more space in the lounge-inspired, five-passenger cabin. The U.S. EPA driving range is still expected to exceed 300 miles.
When it comes to providing the latest in connected car technologies, Honda is one of the best. The Clarity Fuel Cell sedan offers a floating 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen system with in-cabin support for both major smartphone platforms, and the integration of app-based navigation, streaming audio, and voice-controlled search. Honda's Sensing suite of safety and driver assistance features include Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with emergency braking, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS).
"We're pleased to be able to offer this first look at the U.S. version of the Clarity Fuel Cell sedan in advance of its market arrival later this year," said John Mendel, executive vice president, Automobile Division, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "The Clarity Fuel Cell is the first in an expanding portfolio of advanced electrified vehicles from Honda that will create a new pillar in our product lineup."
The Clarity Fuel Cell Sedan is expected to be available in select markets before the end of 2016.
